University website secure content–use your standard username and password from Tuesday 30 October

From Tuesday 30 October 2012 you can use your standard username and password for accessing secure UoD website content, also known as red, blue and green key areas.

Intranet (or SOMIS) passwords will no longer be required and intranet authentication will be switched off for these pages.

Are there any exceptions?

  • For the moment, users will still login using their intranet (SOMIS)password to secure content that is hosted on SOMIS. This content includes Court and Senate papers, the University calendar and the University email and telephone directories.
  • Users wishing to submit messages to Hermes I or II will also require their intranet (SOMIS) password.

What are the long term plans for SOMIS?

This work is part of programmes of work required to retire SOMIS as the University intranet and to implement a single sign-on solution. This particular strand of work has been escalated to better protect our secure content.

We will be in touch about where and how we will be providing the services currently offered by SOMIS as the project continues.
