Issue using the University Wireless Network: Main Library – No. 61131

Normal WiFi service is now resumed in the areas of the Main Library that were previously experiencing performance issues. There was a particular problem in areas heavily used by students with personal devices (Areas GB, 1B and 2B). Our technical team has been carrying out extensive improvement work over the past 2 weeks to resolve these issues.This culminated on Wednesday, 24th April, and has resulted in significant improvement in service; the service has been closely monitored and there have been no new faults reported.

If you are still experiencing an issue using the Wireless Service in the Main Library, please contact the Service Desk at Area 1B directly, or through the normal channels, quoting reference number 61131.

Update 23rd April

New wireless equipment was deployed last Friday (19/4/13) to Areas 1B and 2B of the Main Library, which has improved wireless performance in these areas.

We are progressing with further improvements on the ground floor and implementing additional capacity tomorrow, Wednesday 24th April between 8am and 9am.   This work will generate some noise, please bear with us until the work is completed.

Update Friday 12th April

Our technical team are continuing to monitor reports of slowness in the Main Library.  Slowness issue is more apparent in the older part of the building – B areas.  New equipment is due for delivery which will assist in repairing this problem.

We are aware that Users are experiencing slowness when using the wireless network in some areas of the Main Library Building.

Our technical teams are investigating the issue.
