Issues accessing Medicine and Nursing H:\ Drive

UoD IT have been made aware of an issue affecting access to home drive file storage (H) for some users in the School of Medicine and Nursing. This problem manifests itself in a number of ways including:

Slow performance in Microsoft Office Applications
Inability to save documents to H drive or load documents from H drive
Partial or complete loss of desktop icons

We are investigating this problem urgently under reference number 163523 and we will update affected users as soon as possible. If you are currently experiencing any IT issues please contact us on and this will help us to understand the impact of this issue and work towards a resolution.

Please do not open this email, it is spam, should be deleted and is not indeed from anyone at but what is called a “spoofed” email

Resolved: Issues with accessing Help4U self service

This issue has been resolved.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused.


There are issues with the availability of the Help4U service this morning.  Customers can continue to log tickets/calls with or, however access to view tickets via the self service portal is unavailable.

Engineers are working on the issue and we will update this page as soon as possible.

If you are on campus please feel free to visit the Service Desk in the Main Library – the team would be pleased to help.

Resolved – Applicants experiencing issues accessing EVision Ref #162328

We are pleased to report this is now resolved and all students affected can now access EVision
We are receiving reports from applicants that they are experiencing issues logging into EVision this evening.

Malicious Email – Message from Local Network Scanner – Ref 162231

We are aware of users reporting receiving a malicious email from entitled “message from local network scanner”  which contains an attachment.  Please do not open this attachment and delete the email.

Our technical teams will investigate this issue as soon as possible.

Box design improvements

Box is releasing some design improvements and a user tutorial, including design updates to improve and streamline your Box experience, as well as product tours for first time and existing users. You’ll also notice that if you are a first time user, you will be asked two questions when you log into the Box web application for the first time – you can answer these questions to receive a customized user tour, or skip them to move on to a general tour. Answering these questions will allow Box to deliver a customized tour to help you use the product more effectively.

You will see this update in mid-January of 2016 (date is subject to change). You can use this information to familiarize yourself with the updates in advance. Please let me know if you have any questions.

My Dundee Upgrade

We are delighted to inform you the Blackboard (My Dundee) Upgrade is completed ahead of schedule, testing has, thus far, shown it is fully successful and we are delighted to report everything is now back on line.

Checking Your Examination Results – January 2016

With the December diet of examinations behind us and the festive period almost a mere distant memory, many of our students will be keen to know their examination results.

Plans are now being made for the publication of results on Thursday 14th January 2016, but due to the higher than normal demand our servers typically experience around this time of year, results will be released in a phased manner in accordance with server traffic.

To check if results are available in eVision for your particular School, you should first check this page. Further details will be added to this page in due course.

Thursday 14th

1) 11:57: Students in the School of Art and Design (SDAD) and School of Social Sciences (SSOC) can now access their exam results via eVision.

2) 13:25: Students in the School of Medicine (SMED), Dundee University Access to Learning (PEXR) and Careers and Employability and Enterprise Hub and CASTLE (PSTU) can now access their exam results via eVision.

3) 14:58: Students in the School of Life Sciences (SLSC) and School of Humanities (SHUM) can now access their exam results via eVision.

4) 16:21: Students in the School of Dentistry (SDEN), School of Education and Social Work (SESW), and School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS) can now access their exam results via eVision.

Friday 15th

5) 10:28: Students in the School of Science and Engineering (SSEN) can now access their exam results via eVision.

My Dundee unavailable this weekend due to upgrade

Blackboard is now available for use (Sunday 10th 6.30pm)

Please be aware that we are upgrading My Dundee (Blackboard) this weekend, making the platform unavailable to students, staff and applicants.

Please ensure you download any learning resources you may need over this period before the start date of the change.

Why are we upgrading?
To ensure the platform remains in support and resolve outstanding issues with Forums/Discussions, Blogs and uploading ZIP files. In-demand new features that improve integration, Student preview, Grading, video and Portfolios will also be had.

Why on this date?
As with any change which renders a core University system unavailable, selecting a suitable time period to undertake the work is difficult. These dates were selected to minimise impact on staff and students, as well as to avoid overlap with examinations.

The platform be taken offline at 18:00 on Friday 08th January, to ensure ample time is given for the maintenance. Normal service should be resumed by Monday 11th January.
