Phishing scam: eVision password change

An unknown number of users have received a phishing scam message with the subject line “Fwd: Expiration Notice”.

The message requests that eVision users change their login details to continue to have access to the service and provides a web address to do so.

The sender is not an official University account and we are working with our engineers to block the sender to ensure it cannot issue further messages into our email system.

If you have received this message, please refrain from clicking on the link as you may be introducing a security threat to your computer.

The University would never write to students or staff in this way and if  you were ever asked to change your password you would always be pointed towards the Password Change Utility.

Resolved: New wireless network in accommodation

The fix update (see below) has been made and tested successfully, and the new wireless network in University Accommodation should now be working properly. If you do experience any more issues, please log these with the IT Service Desk.

We’ve identified an issue with the new wireless network in University accommodation and are working with our network suppliers CircleIT and Dell to fix it.

What’s being done
The fix involves a firmware update across all the deployed switches. We have instigated an emergency programme of upgrades which will result in instability of the network in residences this morning.

Once complete, this should resolve the issue of intermittent network loss that has been reported by some students within residences. We expect this work to be complete later today.

Work on University Accommodation Network

We’re doing work on the network that gives internet access in University Accommodation tomorrow (12 July) between 07:00-09:00. If you’re in:

  • Heathfield Flats
  • Seabraes 2 (Blocks 1-4)
  • West Park Flats (Stairs 2/3), or
  • Belmont Flats

– you may experience a short 10 second disconnect to internet access (both wireless and wired) within this work window. Residence phones will also be affected.

My Dundee Upgrade

22.07.16 at 16:15 | My Dundee is now back online and available to all students and staff. Thanks for your patience while we performed the upgrade.

18.07.16 at 11:15 |My Dundee is now offline to allow for planned maintenance. The current expected date at which it will be available is Friday 22nd July 2016.

07.07.16 at 12:51 | The University’s learning platform (My Dundee) will be unavailable from Mon 18 – Fri 22 July 2016 while our technical team perform a system upgrade.

Tip: Please ensure you download any learning resources you may need over this period before the start date of the work.

Module and Programme Leads
To assist with contingency planning, we ask that Module and Programme leads who have new modules starting on Mon 18, or that have assessment/submission requirements during the offline period log these in the capture form.
