WordPress update

As you are aware, following the significant security breach to our WordPress Service we have been working to migrate content from the highest priority blogs over to a new and more robust infrastructure.

Has progress been made?

The team will soon be re-launching some .dundee.ac.uk sites, after which time work will begin to ensure sites assigned a lower score according to our previously disclosed criteria receive due attention.

What do we need?

A list of plug-ins and themes which could not be migrated across to the new system has been compiled and where applicable, we may need you to provide these components – we will be contacting those of you this may impact over the next few days.

Thank you for your ongoing support and patience at this busy time.

Network connectivity restored – No. 121573

Our technical team were advised by our vendors this morning to update the Firewall to the latest version of software and, as part of that process, to restart it.  This appears to have restored network connectivity and early indications are showing that there is a consistent standard of performance compared to yesterday.  However, the Firewall software update process is still running and may take some time to finish.

With respect to identifying the root cause of this incident we are continuing with our investigations.

We apologise for the disruption this has caused over the last two days.  If you do notice any further degradation of service please contact the Service Desk is the usual way.

Issues accessing online services – No. 121573

Update – Tuesday 27th Janaury 11:24

We have made initial changes to the system, the changes are being staggered and you should now have access to the Internet and eMail plus others as we progress.

This page will be updated when more information is available.

There are still ongoing issues with connectivity to the University website, the Internet, blogs, eVision My Dundee, WiFi and the Discovery portal despite implementing a series of workarounds to make these services available for as long as possible.

Our technical teams are working with our suppliers to determine what the root cause is and, in identifying this, it has been agreed to make some changes to the IT infrastructure tomorrow morning during the Scheduled Maintenance period (07:00 – 09:00  hrs).  We do not expect this work to impact user productivity more than at present.

We will update when further information becomes available.
