Work is still ongoing to upgrade the Life Science’s virtual infrastructure.
Our technical team has successfully completed two stages of the upgrade process – virtual infrastructure networking alterations and host migration. The team will continue to progress onto the third stage of the upgrade by updating the software on the server hosts. This work will commence on Monday 4th May.
Minimal service impact is anticipated, but users should be aware that this work is being carried out.

Life Sciences virtual infrastructure upgrade

Our technical team will begin to upgrade the Life Science’s virtual infrastructure (the platform that all the virtual servers operate upon) over the coming weeks to improve performance and our ability to support service users.

This work is being split into a number of stages – networking alterations, host migration, software upgrade and additional work. The first of these stages will commence on Monday 27th April and is expected to last for a maximum of two days. During this time, any users that directly access the Virtual Centre will have limited access.

Minimal service impact is anticipated, but users should be aware that this work is being carried out.

Regular updates will be given at http://www.lifesci.dundee.ac.uk/services/lsc to cover the extended period of these gradual upgrades.

If you have any queries regarding this matter please contact support@lifesci.dundee.ac.uk quoting change number 660.

Issues accessing online services – No. 121573

Update – Tuesday 27th Janaury 11:24

We have made initial changes to the system, the changes are being staggered and you should now have access to the Internet and eMail plus others as we progress.

This page will be updated when more information is available.

There are still ongoing issues with connectivity to the University website, the Internet, blogs, eVision My Dundee, WiFi and the Discovery portal despite implementing a series of workarounds to make these services available for as long as possible.

Our technical teams are working with our suppliers to determine what the root cause is and, in identifying this, it has been agreed to make some changes to the IT infrastructure tomorrow morning during the Scheduled Maintenance period (07:00 – 09:00  hrs).  We do not expect this work to impact user productivity more than at present.

We will update when further information becomes available.
