Power maintenance on Saturday 3 November

Estates and Buildings have informed us that on Saturday 3 November 2012 they plan to undertake high-voltage electrical maintenance works affecting the Carnelly sub-station. This will result in the loss of power to the following buildings between 9.00-9.15am:

  • Information & Communication Services (ICS)
  • Tower
  • Scrymgeour
  • Bonar Hall

All PC, Wireless and Telephony services will be disrupted in these buildings during this work. When power is restored, the network switches and telephones will reboot. Should any of these devices fail, the faults will be investigated on Monday morning.

Estates and Buildings will also be undertaking some additional works on the ICS electrical distribution boards, therefore the power outage for ICS will last approximately 2 hours. ICS have an uninterruptable power supply (UPS) and generator to protect the main computer room.

 

Completed:Ninewells Network Link

On Tuesday 16th October, between 7.45 – 8.15am, we will be re-routing cabling in Park Place Computer Room that will impact 1 of the 2 network links to Ninewells. As only 1 of the 2 resilient network links to Ninewells will be impacted, there will be no disruption to network or telephony services.

Emergency network repair in Main Library – No: 50061

Emergency network repair has been completed successfully.

On Friday 12thOctober between 7.30-8.30am, ICS will be undertaking an emergency repair to some faulty network switches located in the Library. These network switches provide PC and Telephony services to Area 1B on Level 1 of the Library and therefore services should be considered ‘at risk’. Wireless coverage throughout Level 1 will also be reduced during the repair work.

Issues using Pay2Print cash machines – No: 49979

Update:Library Ground Floor PCs out of order

All PCs are now operational and back in service.  

28 Sep – 14:10

We are gradually bringing PCs back into service in the Ground Floor of Main Library. A section will remain unavailable until further equipment arrives and we have completed additional maintenance.

27 Sep – 10.37

Sixty PCs remain out of order on the Ground Floor of Main Library due to an electrical fault.

We are waiting for replacement parts to arrive and will have the PCs back in service ASAP.

If you need to use a PC please check the IT Suites PC availability page for the best location.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

PCs in Area B on the Ground Floor of Main Library are being shut down and will be out of order due to a reported fault.

We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

 

Completed – Minor upgrade to T4 Content Management System

This upgrade was successfully completed by 9.30am.

On Tuesday 25 September 2012, between 09.00 and 11.00 we will be implementing a minor upgrade to the T4 Content Management System.

How will you be impacted?

While the work is undertaken users will not be able to access the T4 Content Management System. The live University website will remain fully available, however amendments will not be possible during the work.
