Postponed: Power maintenance work on Saturday 15 September

Estates & Buildings have advised us they will be postponing this work. It will be rescheduled at a later date with at least two weeks notice.

****************

Estates and Buildings have informed us that they will be undertaking power maintenance work that affects the Computing Centre on Saturday 15 September 2012 between 8am and lunchtime.

During this power disruption, a combination of our UPS units and generator will maintain supply to our Core Equipment Room and therefore no services should be affected, although they should be seen as at risk.

********************************************

Issues with users receiving spam from @dundee.ac.uk addresses

We are aware users are reporting  spam messages that appear to be from valid @dundee.ac.uk addresses and offer “Recruitment Opportunities”.

These messages can be safely ignored and deleted. They have not been sent from the mailbox of the supposed sender. Spammers can falsify the sender name on email messages, just as people can write false return addresses on mail, to be deliberately misleading.

If you appear to be the sender please do not assume that your account has been compromised. Check your sent items folder and if they do appear in your sent items, contact Service Desk. Otherwise, you can ignore them.

These messages are not caught by a spam filter because our settings are fixed never to prevent ANY messages from an @dundee.ac.uk address.
