All work was successfully  completed by 8.15am.

As part of our planned maintenance we are upgrading the operating system code of the campus network switches in ICS, Park Place, Scrymgeour Building and Bonar Hall on Monday, 17th December. All network access (PC, wireless and telephony) will be affected as we reboot each switch to complete the process. Switch reboots will start at 7am and be complete by 7.30am.

Issues accessing Student Management System – No: 54455

Normal service is resumed on the Student Management System.

Update 3.15pm – 28th November

There is an issue with our filestore cluster resulting in intermittent loss of connectivity to the cluster resources. This means that users may be unable to access file stores and applications and it may impact on login, depending on which resources are having issues at time of attempted login. We are closely monitoring the services.

Our technical team advise us that after initial technical investigations we are in now in the process of implementing a change to the filestore cluster to stabilise this service.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this issue.

Planned Maintenance: DHCP Migration – No. 53906

This migration has now been completed.

The next phase of the staged DHCP migration will be implemented on Thursday 6th December, 8 – 9 am.

Buildings affected will be:

  • Main Library Offices (IT Suites will not be affected)
  • Fulton Building
  • Ewing Building

Update 9.20am – 5th December

This work has now been completed.  Normal service resumed.

As a result of a distribution switch failure in the Queen Mother Building this morning some parts of the following buildings are working with reduced network resilience.

  • 3-Cross Row
  • Fulton
  • Concrete Technology Unit
  • Institute of Sport & Exercise
  • Queen Mother Building

We plan to stabilise network resilience by replacing this faulty network switch at 8am on Wednesday 5th December 2012. Should we experience further issues before then, we are ready to implement an immediate fix.

Internet browsing issues (University border firewall) – No. 53576

Update 5.55pm

Work is now complete and normal service resumed.

Update 4.45pm

There is an issue with the University’s border firewall. This is impacting on web pages loading and causing slowness or freezing. Connections in Residences and across the wireless network are also affected.

Our technical team have been working with our external support to resolve this issue. Following recommendations, the team will carry out urgent repair work at 5.30pm tonight.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this issue. No impact is anticipated while this work is being carried out.
