Scheduled Maintenance: University Web site 21/08/19

We are migrating some services, including the University Web site, to new infrastructure during the following maintenance window:

08:00-08:15 (BST) Wednesday 21st August 2019.

Service Degradation: On-Site Systems

UoD IT have resolved an issue with our storage systems that caused significant performance issues across systems hosted on-site.

This affected internal services such as SITS, P3, Timetabling and Cognos. Users should experience normal performance now.

Disruption: Ninewells Hospital network

1 July 2019 – 12:30

All power has been restored on site and the network is back to full service.  There may be some issues reconncecting devices and if you experience any issues please let the Service Desk know. The easiest way to do this is logging into the Help4U Self-Service Portal and click on the relevant “Broad Service Disruption” and select “I am affected by this disruption”.

1 July 2019 – 09:30

All power has been restored on site and one area of the University network remains unavailable (Trust 28).  We are working with electrical engineers to restore power to enable that part of the network to be restored.

A power issue overnight at Ninewells has had a significant impact to services provided by the University and NHS.  We are working with Estates and NHS colleagues to resume a normal service as soon as possible.

Following this afternoon’s electrical storm there was an interruption to the Unviersity’s computing network.  While most of the network resumed to normal service some areas remain affected.

We are currently working through a list of tasks to resolve.  The undernoted areas remain affected:

Airlie Place, Crawford, Matthew, MSI, Ninewells and Tower Building.

Disruption To Service

At approximately 4pm this afternoon a misconfiguration occurred during a standard operational procedure which resulted in an interruption to connectivity between some of our servers. This  in turn, affected a number of our services. This was quickly rectified by our engineers and the majority of services were restored by 4:30pm.  Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this caused.

Current Issue with Student Printing

We have identified an  issue with Student Printing and are currently working hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

If you have attempted a print job then you will not be charged and if you believe you have been, please visit the Main Library IT service point.

This post will be updated as soon as we have more information.

Dundee City power outage affecting network and telephones

Following a power incident in Dundee City Centre (Greenmarket) this morning, there have been power failures on campus which has affected user access to the network and telephony services.

Working in partnership with colleagues from Campus Services, full service resumed in all affected buildings by 12:00.  Buildings affected were Carnelley, Crawford, Dalhousie, DUSA, Ewing, Fulton, Hawkhill, Life Sciences, Main Library, Matthew, OMS, OTI, QMB, Scrymgeour and Tower Building.

We will continue to closely monitor the network should there be any further disruption.
