Current Issue with Student Printing

We have identified an  issue with Student Printing and are currently working hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

If you have attempted a print job then you will not be charged and if you believe you have been, please visit the Main Library IT service point.

Dundee City power outage affecting network and telephones

Following a power incident in Dundee City Centre (Greenmarket) this morning, there have been power failures on campus which has affected user access to the network and telephony services.

Working in partnership with colleagues from Campus Services, full service resumed in all affected buildings by 12:00.  Buildings affected were Carnelley, Crawford, Dalhousie, DUSA, Ewing, Fulton, Hawkhill, Life Sciences, Main Library, Matthew, OMS, OTI, QMB, Scrymgeour and Tower Building.

If you experience any issues like this please contact the Service Desk in the normal way.

We will continue to closely monitor the network should there be any further disruption.

Power Cut Campus Wide – IT Systems Affected

UPDATE – All infrastructure systems are now back operational, bar some leftover wireless issues in Life Sciences. Please report any minor issues i.e. PC not powering on to the Service Desk and they will be resolved promptly. Should your IP telephone not be operational, remove the network cable from the rear, wait a few seconds and replace – this may help to resolve the issue.

 

There has been a short power outage in this area of Dundee. Most systems have recovered, but there may be a delay in getting all system back operational. Please bear with us at the moment.

Please contact the IT Service Desk should you have systems which remain down.

Ninewells wifi outage

We’re currently experiencing reliability issues with wifi services at Ninewells. This is affecting both eduroam and UoD_wifi networks. The issue is under investigation and we’ll provide an update as soon as we have further information as to the cause and/or resolution.

Meantime, service availability may continue to fluctuate and be unstable. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Life Sciences — LDAP Authentication Issues – RESOLVED

Colleagues,

This morning there are issues with Life Sciences LDAP Authentication – this is impacting:

• Lifesci wifi
• Life Sciences VPN
• LSD portal for password resets
• any applications which are set to authenticate against the old Lifesci LDAP directory

The matter is actively being investigated by UoD IT support teams.

Microsoft Office Slowness Issue – Update

Investigations into the ongoing Microsoft Office slowness problem continue to be a key priority for UoD IT. As it stands, we still have a temporary workaround available, which has been largely effective in alleviating the symptoms of this particular issue for most people who have reported the problem to us.

Once again, we encourage anyone who is suffering from this issue to inform the Service Desk on help4u@dundee.ac.uk to ensure that their situation can be assessed and the workaround applied if required.

We are currently still heavily engaged with Microsoft and we shall be carrying out some work on our infrastructure this week which they have recommended. We also continue to gather log data for Microsoft and will be passing some updated logs to them for analysis.

In the meantime, I apologise for the ongoing inconvenience and please do not hesitate to contact us regarding this issue.

Service Restored: Dalhousie Network Outage

The issues affecting network connectivity within Dalhousie this morning (Monday 30th October) have been identified and resolved with full restoration of service.

Service Restored: We are currently experiencing some network connectivity issues in the Dalhousie building affecting both PC’s and telephony. The team are currently investigating the issue and have identified a problem. Further updates will be issued as soon as we have any more information.

Matthew Building – Power Outage – Sunday 29th October

Estates and Campus Services advise that there will be a power outage to the whole of the Matthew Building on Sunday 29/10/17. The power outage is expected to last the whole day.

Due to the loss of power IT services including wifi, network and desktops will be unavailable in this area.

UoD IT support will be on hand early Monday morning to check and confirm IT services are fully operational following restoration of power.
